ABOUT

 

The  Calgary  Youth  Art  Exhibition  is an initiative founded in 2013 to recognize and celebrate talented young artists in the City of Calgary.  It provides passionate young  artists  an opportunity to network with fellow artists and exhibit their artwork at a professional, friendly venue for free. It is the first opportunity of its kind that enables artists to come together and display their artwork in a community environment. Submissions for the exhibition are currently open and will be accepted until 11:59PM MT on Friday, June 13th 2014.

 

Our Mission Statement: Empowering youth artistic spirit through by encouraging expression, conversation and celebration.

 

 

EXECUTIVE TEAM

 

 
TRACY LI
 

Tracy  is  currently  a grade 12  student at Sir Winston Churchill. She is passionate for embracing individual initiative and is consistently seeking areas  of  development  within youth  arts, culture.  Her friendly, diplomatic and driven persona is evident throughout her involvements in Junior  Achievement, Model United Nations and  position  as  a  part-time  piano and voice teacher. She hopes to further pursue her interest in  startups,  and international development this summer by volunteering with Startups  Calgary, and the Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association. She will be pursuing a Bachelor’s of Commerce  degree at Queen’s University in the Fall. She describes herself  as  a  sincere  art  lover -- one  who  loves  its spontaneity,  unpredictability,  hidden messages and raw expression. Art museums top of her travel bucket lists. She has always had an affinity for fine arts, oil painting landscapes since she was ten. Currently, she is finishing a school mural.

 
VICKY XIAO
 

Vicky  is  a Grade 12  student currently attending Western Canada High School.  Her interests include  the visual arts, the sciences and anything involving the intersection of the two. At  school,  she involves  herself  in the Western Canada High School Wind Ensemble, Model UN and Science Club. In her free time, she undertakes historial research with the Mission - Cliff  Bungalow  Community  Association  and volunteers as a member of the Otafest executive team.  She  is  excited  to  begin  studying  at University of Pennsylvania in the fall and ultimately hopes to pursue a career in computer  animation. She also spends an alarmingly large amount of time sketching in the middle of the night.
